A Few Lovelies From The Inty-Web

7 Sep

Hello Foxes and Foxettes!

I have recently been perusing the interweb for the latest lovelies to offer you here at Crafty Foxes Central. You may have seen these on other blogs, you may know of them already from magazines or you may actually be the people I’m featuring (and if that’s the case say hi!). I am slowly changing the look of this blog, introducing new features and integrating into another server eventually (the alphabet is still the deadline for this and I will be continuing with that series soon!!).

In the meantime, enjoy the links and pictures I have found! (Each image can be clicked on to take you through to the artist/crafter/magazine website)

Bindi Booth – just lovely!

Artemis Russell’s wedding photo’s – so amazing!

Nathalie Lete – lovely handtufted rugs that look like paint by numbers pictures!

Louise Evans – she makes Super Duper Things! (Also the name of her Etsy shop!)

Lune Vintage – loving those deer legwarmers!!

Art Equals Happy – I love this picture of Kim! She looks so purdy! (And will probably not agree with me but I don’t care! I Love You and am glad you’re my real life friend!!)

Girls in a Bottle from A Print A Day – In Love!

Frankie 2011 Diary – I’m looking for a new one and would like this one please!

Inga Birgisdottir – Funny illustrations that make me want to take a cut out moustache everywhere with me!! (This image was taken from Creature Comforts blog)

Sophie Blackall – I saw this series featured recently in Oh Comely magazine here in the UK and straight after she has popped up all over the place, on blogs far and wide! I love the owl.

The Gluttonous Vegan – Yum. That is all.

And finally, A Beautiful Mess (Elsie Flannigan) – who doesn’t love plaid and florals in Autumn? The leaves haven’t quite turned yet but there is a chill in the air and it’s raining a lot more here in London. Can’t wait to get myself a nice warm flannel shirt that I can wear with jeans and wool tights and thick woolen skirts!

I do hope you’ve enjoyed these little bits and pieces and I’ll be back soon with more.

G is for Good

17 Jul

Good is a word that I don’t like to overuse as I find that after a while it loses it’s meaning but recently (aside from the odd bad day we are all entitled too) things in my life have been good. Not great. Not awful. Just good. It’s been a long time coming so I’m happy with things just going good. For this post, I’ve decided to list all the good things in my life, so I hope you enjoy and can celebrate a few things with me and maybe inspire you to see that good is fine. Good is good!

1) I’ve been making more friends within the crafty community (thank you BUST Craftacular London and The Last Wednesday Knitting Club!) It’s taken me a long time to even feel confident enough to talk to people I admire but once I mustered up the nerve contacts and friendships have occurred. One of the best things about this is that as a new starter in business I now have a nice group of people that I know I can email or call if need be to ask them a question.

2) My products are now available for sale in a retail shop!! Yes, you heard. I have an official stockist in an official real life shop you can walk into and everything!! Haha. I dropped the finished products off today, so as of Monday (I think) you will be able to buy Crafty Foxes handmade accessories at The Shop @ Discover Greenwich. It’s such an exciting thing for me and is part of the reason why I’ve been so absent from here lately. I wanted to put my all into this first order to make sure it was up to standard. I’m at a wee bit of a loss now that I don’t have 20 brooches to hand sew in 3 hours, haha!! From now on though I have the knowledge I need to get me through subsequent orders and re-orders that I can work better and more efficiently.

3) I’m planning a mini craft fair for the end of August. This is as much as I can reveal right now. More information will be here next week! It’s another exciting phase of the Crafty Foxes story!!

4) I have finally been offered a teaching assistant job. It’s 16-24 year olds which scares me a little bit but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s 25 hours a week for 6 months and adds a bit more routine to my life which has been more than a little bit chaotic in the last 6 months. I can’t wait to start and I’ll let you know how my first week goes when it’s done. Hopefully after the initial 6 months is up I’ll be kept on!

5) I had a really good day with my parents today. I haven’t really spent time with both of them for a while so it was nice to be able to. I miss them and don’t visit half as much as I should but they do come to London quite a bit so I’m lucky in that respect. We had a pub lunch that was memorable to say the least (“I’m not stoned anymore!”) but it was nice just to catch up and know that my parents are proud of the hard work I’ve been putting into my business and my products and support me every step of the way.

I hope you, my lovely blog readers, are well and I’ll elaborate on more things over this coming week (craft fair and other exciting announcements). It’s been great seeing that people are still reading during my absence and that my blog is attracting new readers all the time too! Hello and love to you all! I hope you’re having a good weekend!

F is for Friends

23 Jun

I have a friend. Well I have many friends but I have one in particular that I want to dedicate this blog post to because she’s doing something completely awesome.

So, I have a friend called Cat (that’s her on the left). We’ve known each other for 5 years now after meeting each other during our first week at university (Correction: Cat just reminded me it was our first day!!). We’ve been through highs and lows like all friends have but have stuck it out throughout and although we don’t meet up as often as either of us like due to one reason or another (poor-ness, aching muscles, etc…hehe), we still make sure that we make time for each other and have a proper good night out once every so often.

Anyway, Cat, along with a few others, is doing a charity bike ride from Brussels to London, taking in 3 countries in 3 days! Yep, 3 days to cycle 227 miles! The team are raising money for the charity, Right To Play, which if I do say so myself is a pretty awesome charity to be raising money for. The statement below about what they do has been taken from their website –

“Right To Play is the leading international humanitarian and development organization using the transformative power of sport and play to build essential skills in children and thereby drive social change in communities affected by war, poverty and disease.  Right To Play creates a safe place for children to learn and fosters the hope that is essential for children to envision and realize a better future. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child guides our work. Right To Play programs target the most marginalized individuals including girls, persons with disabilities, children affected by HIV and AIDS, street children, former child combatants and refugees.

Right To Play has been a pioneer in innovation for social change and has a track record for creating programs that are both sustainable and replicable.”

This blog post is my way of trying to help my friend raise as much money as possible in order to give disadvantaged children a better life. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONATE IF YOU CAN!!!! Donate Here

I’m proud to have a friend who does something as awesome as this without any thought (or very little thought) and wish I could say the same about myself!! She’s such a selfless person and I’m honoured to be able to call Cat my friend. She’s also been pretty instrumental in helping me out with getting my business up and running and off the ground and I owe her sooooo much for the encouragement she’s given me and continues to give!! Oh, and she deserves muchos congratulations for passing her roller derby assessments! Yay! I have something in the works for you (and Sam) as a well done for that! Hehe. You’ll just have to wait and see though!

So that’s my ‘F’. I really hope everyone has at least one friend like this!! They’re the friends that make life that little bit brighter and funner (I don’t care if that’s not a word, haha). So give, give, give to the LSE Cyclepath team and Right To Play!! They are awesome and deserve all the donations they get! Stay tuned for ‘G’ in my alphabet soon!!

Blog Feature: Our.City.Lights

17 Mar

I’ve decided to do a small featurette this week about one of my favourite blogs, our.city.lights. If you ever want a good, intelligent blog read, this blog is for you.

Diana is the creative mastermind behind our.city.lights and is a woman who seemingly has a knack and eye for photography. I was lucky enough to receive a preview print (above) of her photographs on an amazing new paper, Kodak Metallic Endura Paper. Now, 3D is one of those terms that is being tossed around nowadays – mainly in the film industry with the release of films such as Alice in Wonderland and Avatar. But in photography? I wouldn’t have thought so until I saw this print. The Metallic Endura Paper, for me anyway, literally makes the image jump out of the flat paper. I’ve never seen such depth to a photograph as I have with this paper. It’s definitely a step in the right direction, Diana!! And my boyfriend loves it too!!

Diana also has 2 etsy shops. Yes, two!! The first is her own  – city.light Photography, and features all of her wonderful photographs in print, card and paper form. Here are a few of the images available…

Number two is a more recent venture with Naomi of the gluttonous vegan – a little shop called ohsewdreamy, where they sell cute embroideries. Now we all know I have a soft spot for woodland creatures so these deer embroideries currently for sale in their etsy shop are exactly what my house needs to spruce it up!! If only I had those extra pounds in my pocket right now….

So if you haven’t been over to Miss Diana’s blog or shops yet, GO NOW!!!! Hehe, seriously an inspiring and intelligent lady that I’m grateful to have come across and hopefully will become great friends with. And Diana, I’ll be your guinea pig anytime!!! Hehe.
