A Few Lovelies From The Inty-Web

7 Sep

Hello Foxes and Foxettes!

I have recently been perusing the interweb for the latest lovelies to offer you here at Crafty Foxes Central. You may have seen these on other blogs, you may know of them already from magazines or you may actually be the people I’m featuring (and if that’s the case say hi!). I am slowly changing the look of this blog, introducing new features and integrating into another server eventually (the alphabet is still the deadline for this and I will be continuing with that series soon!!).

In the meantime, enjoy the links and pictures I have found! (Each image can be clicked on to take you through to the artist/crafter/magazine website)

Bindi Booth – just lovely!

Artemis Russell’s wedding photo’s – so amazing!

Nathalie Lete – lovely handtufted rugs that look like paint by numbers pictures!

Louise Evans – she makes Super Duper Things! (Also the name of her Etsy shop!)

Lune Vintage – loving those deer legwarmers!!

Art Equals Happy – I love this picture of Kim! She looks so purdy! (And will probably not agree with me but I don’t care! I Love You and am glad you’re my real life friend!!)

Girls in a Bottle from A Print A Day – In Love!

Frankie 2011 Diary – I’m looking for a new one and would like this one please!

Inga Birgisdottir – Funny illustrations that make me want to take a cut out moustache everywhere with me!! (This image was taken from Creature Comforts blog)

Sophie Blackall – I saw this series featured recently in Oh Comely magazine here in the UK and straight after she has popped up all over the place, on blogs far and wide! I love the owl.

The Gluttonous Vegan – Yum. That is all.

And finally, A Beautiful Mess (Elsie Flannigan) – who doesn’t love plaid and florals in Autumn? The leaves haven’t quite turned yet but there is a chill in the air and it’s raining a lot more here in London. Can’t wait to get myself a nice warm flannel shirt that I can wear with jeans and wool tights and thick woolen skirts!

I do hope you’ve enjoyed these little bits and pieces and I’ll be back soon with more.

Pretty Things Thursday

4 Mar

I’m currently typing this with freshly painted nails – they appear to be dry but that is never the case so I’m being cautious!

New nails!

I’ve found a lot of pretty things over the last few weeks – this feature has been absent for personal reasons…I’ve only really been able to update once a week with all the things that have been going on in my life recently! I’ll start off with the most recent pretty things I’ve found…

Pretty cute tee-shirts from Skunkboy Creatures! With an original drawing by Elsie Cake herself!

A pretty picture from Sherri DuPree.

Pretty colour scheme from Giant Dwarf (depending on birthday money situation after Saturday, I shall be purchasing these!!).

Really pretty shoes! I have a crush on brogues at the moment but nowhere near enough money to satiate it! Haha.

Pretty yarn from Debbie Stoller’s new yarn line, Stitch Nation! I’m so bummed it’s only available in the US right now. The colours in the Full o’ Sheep line (hehe, what a great name!, and featured above) are sumptious and I wouldn’t mind a ball of each!

So there are a few pretty things to help get you through this weekend! I may be a little late with my Sunday Round Up this week as IT’S MY BIRTHDAY ON SATURDAY!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! It’s also Katja and Erin’s birthday’s tomorrow so go wish them a happy birthday too! I’m bummed I can’t be at Erin’s Alice In Wonderland themed birthday party in Springfield this weeked (so is Katja) but I’m sure we will all spend a brthday weekend together at some point! Happy Birthday ladies! I’m glad and honoured I’m able to include you in my new circle of friends! Crafty kisses and hugs!

To all you out there, have a great weekend and I hope your week has been good to you!

Pretty Things Friday

29 Jan

I’m a day late! I’m sorry! I had a job interview yesterday (all fingers crossed) and then had to work in the evening at an event so Thursday was a bit of a wash-out so to speak. But I’m here now and ready to share pretty things!

This week I’ve decided to give you a tour of some of my favourite blogs. No, if you’re blog isn’t here and you know I read it, please don’t take it the wrong way! I love you all but if I was to put all of the blogs I read here it would take forever to list them all……..and I wouldn’t have another “blogs I like” blog post to write! Onto round one of some of my favourite blogs…

Elsie’s blog, which I’ve mentioned many times before on here, is one of my favourites. She has to be one of the most inspiring young business women I’ve come across and is in the position I would like to be in come 3 years time (and that’s my maximum time limit). I love Elsie’s illustration and painting style, the tutorials she posts and the hints and tips she gives to those girls and guys like me who are trying to get started but just aren’t sure where to start. A visit to Red Velvet Art (her real-life store) is also on my to-do-list as soon as I save enough money to go on holiday!

Katie’s blog is a more recent favourite. I’m a huge fan of the plush creatures she creates (and I’m standing by my computer for the next update to make sure I can get one of the lovelies!!) and love the style she has created for them. I recently participated in a craft swap Katie hosted and enjoyed it muchly (although I was a bit sad Katie wasn’t my swap partner, hehe, that would have been sooo cool!!). Oh, and if you have a love for vintage dresses and pretty dresses in general you have to go visit her blog!!

Leigh-Ann is another great inspiration for me. I bought one of her photobooth albums from RVA last year and fell in love with her crafting style. Each creation LA makes is unique and wonderful which for me is a huge part of their charm. She is also another good tutorial poster, and is currently holding a worldwide pincushion swap! Sign ups are until 1st February so if you want to take part go put your name down now!

I love Polka Dot Robot: FACT. Vivianna is amazing: FACT. I love the knitted and crocheted wares that the ladies over at PDR make and at some point will get around to actually buying something (specifically the Fox Hat I’ve posted here a few times). Vivs blogs are really inspiring and she’s the person who got me into art journalling and without knowing it, has single handedly made me want to become a better knitter (who wouldn’t want her mad knitting skills?! Hehe).

So that’s the first 4 featured blogs that I think deserve a mention, especially in my pretty things category! If you haven’t been to their blogs before go and visit and show them some love! And if you have, you have amazing taste! I might make this another weekly feature, instead of it encroaching into my other blog posts. It means that I’d be able to feature a lot more blogs on my list and I can have specific features too if someone wants to promote themselves. Tell me what your thoughts are and whether you’d like this feature to become regular!

Well, it’s almost the weekend! Hope you all have a good one and I’ll see you on Sunday!

Monday Loveliness

2 Nov

I realise I’ve missed a couple of my regular features this week, so I apologise to those of you who were looking forward to them. I had a pretty tough week last week so needed to take a little time out. But I’m back and looking forward to blogging about all the things I’ve found and been inspired by.

These images come courtesy of Red Cap Cards. Paperchase (in the UK anyway) sell their cards and it’s there that I first discovered them. I love that they have a whole host of illustrators making images for them. The deer and flower images are two of my favourites at the moment as they remind me of Charley Harper’s illustrations. That brings me to…

Birds and Words

I’m coveting this book after coming across it when I was in Magma Books in Covent Garden today. His illustrations are simple and I love his descriptions of how he draws and comes up with the ideas of how the birds should look. I do have a huge things for birds at the moment and wouldn’t mind getting a couple of love birds (they’re pretty and very cute!!).

Painted pumpkin

It seems like not a blog post goes by without a mention of Elsie Flannigan but I love this simple decoration idea she posted on her blog today. The textures of the pumpkin and the paint make for an interesting final texture. And it’s a cheap and cheerful way of decorating your home for the next few holidays coming up!

Team Lovely

And a final image again from Elsie, of her new series of paintings called ‘Team Lovely’. This is one of the first in a series of 100 and is so far my favourite piece. If I had all the money in the world she’d be mine right now but I’m just going to have to wait and hope that no-one else buys her!! They’re doing a really cute thing of putting markers on a globe of wherever the ladies end up. At least one needs to be in the UK!!

So that’s my blogging for this evening. I’ll have more updates this week as well as the regular features being back!

Hope your Monday wasn’t too stressful and boring!

Pretty Things Thursday

15 Oct

I’ve decided to add a new little feature to my blog called “Pretty Things on Thursday”. It’ll be a weekly Thursday post about, well, pretty things! Haha.

1) I was recently alerted to Fifi Lapin and her blog by Elsie over at A Beautiful Mess. It’s amazing and the illustrations are just magical. Extremely pretty indeed.

2) My small mention of Elsie made me realise that it would be silly not to put her in my list of pretty things for this Thursday. I really admire her style, her art and her love for her shop and the products she puts in it. Blogging everyday isn’t easy either, as well as being half of the teaching team for the RVA Autumn Craft Class I’m taking at the moment. She is just an amazing woman who creates very pretty things.

3) My new obsessions are wool and buttons. I just can’t get enough of either. I’m constantly on the look out for the right colours for possible crochet and knitting projects and for more buttons to add to my stash. I was recently at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace and was in complete heaven. I just wish I had more money to spend!!
